Lowndes County Released Inmates
A Lowndes County release means the John Hulett Detention Facility / Lowndes County Jail no longer holds the person under that county booking. It does not always mean the person walked out to the community. The release may be a bond-out, a court-ordered release, time served, sentence completion, dismissal, transfer to the Alabama Department of Corrections, another county hold, a federal hold, or a less common agency action. That is why a released person may vanish from a current jail view while another record still explains where the case or custody went next.
The official Lowndes County Sheriff's Office web page did not show a public web roster, 24-hour release feed, 72-hour release feed, or booking-photo gallery during the research sweep. The county source instead points users to the official sheriff app for current information. A Lowndes County release search should treat that app or a jail call as the first county channel, then use the court case, VINELink, ADOC, ABPP, BOP, or ICE only when the facts fit that custody system.
Important: absence from a current jail channel is not proof of release by itself. It may also mean transfer, spelling mismatch, data lag, sealed access, or a public display limit.
Lowndes County Release Types
The release reason controls the next search. A bond release leaves the person out of jail while the case continues. Time served or sentence served points back to the court sentence and jail credit. Q: Does a release record prove the case is over? A: No. It proves a custody exit from that booking. The court docket is still needed to confirm dismissal, plea, sentence, probation, or later hearings.

Lowndes Court Release Proof
The court path is unusually important in Lowndes County because the sheriff website did not publish a public recent-release feed during the sweep. The Lowndes County Circuit Clerk page says court records are electronically imaged and that most trial-court information may be obtained through alacourt.gov using Just One Look, with required fees. Alacourt ACCESS states that it covers Alabama trial-court records, including criminal and traffic matters.
A docket can show the event that caused the release: bond, warrant recall, plea, sentence, probation order, dismissal, no bill, acquittal, nolle prosequi, or jail credit. For Lowndes County released inmates, that makes the court record a durable second source after a jail app or phone check. If the case is sealed, expunged, juvenile, or youthful-offender related, public access may be limited. In that case, ask the clerk what can be confirmed publicly instead of treating a missing online result as proof.
Note: use the case number when available because name-only court searches can return weak or incomplete matches.
Find Lowndes County Released Inmates
The strongest search path starts with custody type. A released Lowndes County jail detainee is a county record problem. A state prisoner sentenced from Lowndes County is an ADOC and ABPP problem. ADOC Search for Lowndes Releases
ADOC is the statewide prison source, not the Lowndes County jail roster. The ADOC inmate search is useful if a Lowndes County defendant was sentenced to state prison and remains currently incarcerated. ADOC states that its public database contains only currently incarcerated inmates and that historical data is not available online. A person who already completed ADOC custody may need ADOC records, ABPP records, VINELink/VNS notice, or the sentencing court record.
The ADOC search page can be searched by AIS number, first name, or last name. ADOC says the AIS number is a unique six-digit number and is the fastest way to find a particular inmate. Name searches are open-ended and can display a maximum of 50 records, so broad searches can miss the right person.
The ADOC definitions page is the key to reading release fields. The field called Minimum Release Date is the earliest scheduled date for release to probation or end of sentence, and ADOC says it can change because of disciplinary action, good-time loss, new cases, or sentence changes from the circuit clerk.

Lowndes Sheriff App Releases
The Lowndes County release environment is app-centered. The official sheriff page links the public to the sheriff app for current and up-to-date information. The iOS and Android listings identify the app as Lowndes County Sheriff, and WSFA reported during the 2022 launch that people could use it to keep up with county inmates. That supports checking the app before assuming Lowndes has no official digital inmate channel.

The app source does not prove a public 24-hour release list, a 72-hour release list, or exact booking-photo fields. It proves the county points users to an official mobile channel. For release proof, pair any app result with a jail call, court docket, VINELink result, or records request.
Getting Home After Lowndes Release
Release logistics should be confirmed before anyone travels to Hayneville. The research did not locate an official Lowndes jail release time, lobby rule, family waiting rule, weekend release policy, property pickup policy, or ride-share policy. Ask the jail whether release processing is complete, whether the person was released to the community or transferred, where property is picked up, and whether any hold controls the next move.
Lowndes County is rural, and transportation can matter after release. West Alabama Public Transportation lists Lowndes County Public Transportation at 205 East Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. That is a general local transportation resource, not proof that the jail arranges rides. It belongs after custody confirmation, not before it. A person may also need to report to court, probation, parole, or another agency after release, so the pickup plan should not assume the release ends all obligations.
Lowndes Release Supervision
Parole and probation are not the same thing. Parole follows a prison release before the full sentence has ended, or a mandatory-release supervision mechanism. Probation is a court sentence or supervision term that may occur without a prison release. A Lowndes County bond-out is not parole. A Lowndes sentence to probation may mean the person leaves jail and reports to supervision.
Lowndes County is served by the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles Greenville Field Office, not a Lowndes-located field office. ABPP lists Greenville as serving Butler, Crenshaw, and Lowndes counties. That office is the local supervision route when ABPP assigns a Lowndes-area parolee or probationer there. VINELink and Federal Releases
VINELink is a custody-status and notification source, not a permanent release archive. Alabama VINELink is available at VINELink Alabama, and ABPP and ADOC also link the Alabama Victim Notification System. General VINE guidance says registration is for people currently in custody and that historical data is not available. It also says records may be deleted approximately two weeks after release, so do not wait until long after release to use it.
Federal and immigration releases need separate checks. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present and may show a release date or "Not in BOP Custody." BOP warns that a person not in BOP custody may still be in another custody, law-enforcement, parole, or supervised-release status. ICE ODLS is the separate immigration custody locator. No Lowndes County ICE detention center or contract was found in the sweep, but an immigration detainer can still make a county jail release misleading.
Lowndes Released vs In Custody
Use the system that matches the question. A live county source, if available through the app or jail, helps show current county custody. A release record explains the custody exit. A court record explains the legal event. ADOC is only for state prison custody, and its public search is current-only. BOP and ICE are separate federal systems. No one database proves every Lowndes County released inmate.
